Get ready for the classic Murder Mystery game Clue like you’ve never played it before - a scavenger hunt taken to a whole new level!
You and your friends will want to play again and again, and the best part is you can because every game has a different outcome.
This murder mystery game takes the classic game of Clue off the board and into a real life scavenger hunt. This inspired game takes it to the next level with new elements for fun player interactions such as bribery, forming alliances, blackmail, gambling, stealing, and more - all in a race to be the first to be the first to discover who murdered Mr. Boddy, where they did it, and what they did it with.
Watch the fun video below for a quick explanation of the game (you can click on the screen to pause it any time if you want to read the character descriptions, I know they go by pretty fast). The written description is located under the video. Have fun!
NOTE: This video was made when I first created the game and do contain some typos, they have been corrected though I did not recreate the video yet.
NOTE: This game can be played with 8-12 players, if you would like to play with more players you can check out our murder mystery game Killer Among Us which can have up to 52 players! You can also use this game by printing double the cards to play with up to 24 people. Anymore than that and the game just gets to out of control,
The game includes 12 suspect cards, 10 location cards, 10 weapon cards, 32 play cards (these are what make the game so fun, but we will get to that in a minute) 1 case description, 1 make an accusation card, and 12 file case cards, plus set-up and rules.
These are the solution cards - the one's the players are going to be trying to guess, so make sure they are kept top secret.
Place all remaining cards (including game play cards, which we will get to in a minute) in individual envelopes - you don't have to place them in envelopes but it helps to make sure they are not spotted before they should be. Hide them throughout your playing area. Do NOT hide the Make an Accusation card or the case file cards.
NOTE: The case description is basically the quick and simple rules of the game. It prints on one full page - you can print one off for each player, or you can just print one and have it displayed for everyone to see. You can also choose read it aloud at the beginning of the game.
This card help players to record their findings. When players find a suspect card, weapon card, or location card they can eliminate it off there case file as it is not one of the solution cards, because those are held by the host.
It's time to start your Clued-In Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt. On the start of Go players race to find as many hidden cards as they can and eliminate any suspects, locations, and weapons as they can and preventing others players from getting to those cards first.
Eventually all the cards will be found, and players will want to see what the other players found so that they can continue to eliminate possibilities off there case files and try and win the game -
THIS IS WHERE THE REAL FUN BEGINS!
Along with all the hidden suspect,weapon, and location cards there are also hidden play cards that players will find. There are eight different types of play cards that allow players to interact with other players in specific ways. The eight cards are the;
Each of these cards allow players to interact with each other in different fun ways. The rules of each card are described on the card. The Friendly Wager card is the only one that requires extra props - those would be six dice. This card allows a mini game inside the game, but still simple enough it doesn't get confusing. The Sneak A Peek cards come in three different versions, each with it's own fill in the blank space - so you are able to create your own game rule, and change it each time you play the game.
Eventually while interacting with the other players using the game play cards, a player is going to eliminate all the suspects, weapons, and locations on there file case until they are left with the three that are the solution. At this point that player would grab the Make an Accusation card (that you place in a central location in the playing area for players to reach) and call out there solution.
If they are correct they win the game! If they messed up somewhere or guessed in haste and didn't get the solution correct they are not allowed to make another accusation for 10 minutes - they can still continue playing the game during this time though.
AGE RANGE: Ages 8+
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 6-12 players. If you have less than 8 you may want to take out some of the game play cards to meet the ratio.
TIME FRAME: If you want the game to only last a certain amount of time, then there is away to make that happen. About 25 minutes before you need to game to end (you should allocate at least an hour for total game play) you can start calling out one of the suspects, locations, OR weapons that is NOT in the solution every 60 seconds. This will make sure the game comes to an end within the allotted time frame.
